I bought these little guys (they’re 5″ tall less the hair) in one of those stores that sell stuff that didn’t sell elsewhere and one of those times when Himself was gone from home I spent my evenings knitting them a wardrobe with left-over sock yarns. I think they’re awfully cute little dust collectors! π
More snow…
We got the rest of the predicted foot last night and then it started raining so it’s a real sloppy mess. Power went out again about 2:30 am and just came on again (and off and on lol) about 2 pm.So I got the dishwasher & the vacuuming done in a hurry… just in case! Now I have to do a bit of printing. The last book got stopped abut half way though when the power went out yesterday. The two “ice cream cones” in this picture are my bird bath and the BBQ. There’s lot of broken and downed trees. Our Mountain Ash is looking bad … again. π¦
Well, nothing in the forecast now but gloom and rain. I can handle that if the power stays on! I’ll get a picture of what I’ve been doing to pass the time and post it here soon.
Stay warm!
Snow?

Well, you can see in this picture why our power was out for 20 hours. We got about 4″ of this heavy, very wet stuff. I’ll bet those line men are home in bed shivering now! It’s snowing again, off and on… Hope they don’t have to get out of their warm beds again tonight!
I spent the day packing looms, knitting, & grumbling about conditions. It helped a lot, I’m sure! :hehe:
I hope you all had a drier and brigther day!
π
Still snowing
We’ve got about 3″ now… 4pm… and it’s coming down heavily. If we get the 9 to 11″ predicted tonight we’ll surely be out of power by morning. It’s already blinked off twice so if I’m incommunicado you’ll know what happened.
Merry Merry!
Here’s our first snow. It’s been at it less than an hour and they are predicting up to a foot. Of course, their predictions have been pretty much dead wrong so far! lol Like this wasn’t due until this evening. Or sometime last week…
Oh well, it’s fine and dry, the squeaky kind of snow, so that part is okay. It makes great snowballs but also melts really fast when the sun finally hits it.
Hope you’re getting some mild seasonal weather, too. π
My First Aran and the First Snow!
This is the first “Aran” knit sweater I’ve done. I bought Nicky Epstien’s book, Knits for Barbie and did the first pattern. I think it turned out great, in spite of my “adjustments” to her pattern! lol I love the little fake cables, tho. I just changed the construction. She had the neckband and the sleeves knit separately and sewn on. I hate that so I just sewed the front and back together and picked up stitches around the neck and knitted the neckband on. Ditto the sleeves. Top down. Had a heck of a time getting started with the cast-on ribbing. I have been using a knitted cast-on and I could not get the delicate ribbing to look right until I tried the long-tail cast-on. For some reason the knitted one leaves fat open loops where the other is tight. But all is well that ends well, huh?
Oh Lookee! It just started snowing! Sticking, too! They’ve been predicting it for a week or more now! Jingle bell time at last! Merry Christmas, all! π
A Snowy surprise!

I took this photo this morning in Rogue River. You see there is not an alpaca or donkey in sight! They all had sense enough to stay in the barn. It wasn’t exactly a blizzard and was already melting by the time Sis and I left for Medford to do some Christmas shopping but it did sorta make it feel a bit more Christmassy. I got to creep down Scott Mt. (didn’t take my camera) because the whole north side was ice clear to the bottom! 4-wheel drive and 10mph. coming back this even it was gone, thank goodness.Well, we had a wonderful time and I think I have all my shopping taken care of. Except for the fruitcake. I’ll order it on-line.
Randy’s in the shop now so if you have looms in mind for anyone, better get your orders in soon. We are going to try to get everything out on time!
My new skirt

It’s an FO! Here is my skirt. I knitted this on the ISM. Originally my pattern called for 6 gores but I ended up taking two of them out (I did swatch but obviously something went awry! lol)so it is four gores. It fits well and with the crocheted lace for the hem it hangs straight and added about 3″ to the length.I’m quite pleased with it! It only used up about half my denim yarn, tho so I’m going to have to make a poncho, I guess! lol π
The bottom of the skirt.
This is the lace I crocheted as a hem.
My Baseball cap

I’m modeling it in the next photo but I wanted you to see it ‘cute’ first! lol This little red nosed guy and I wear the same size hats. The photo on the right is trying to show the back where I modified the pattern to give it the hole in the back like Real Baseball caps have. I crocheted the strap, too and gave it a red heart button, which I see I missed in the picture. Oh well. Actually I made several changes in the pattern to suit me. Don’t we all?! lol I think I’m going to make another, maybe one row longer and of all the same kind of yarn. This one is made from three different scraps of red but Sis and I are going shopping next week so I’ll buy some ‘on purpose’ for the cap. I’m also going to try to write up the changes I made so’s I can do it again.
