Next Sweater

nextsweater (148k image)

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! We visited Sis and her neighbors and had an excellent time. Then we braved Black Friday in Medford to pick up my new glasses at Costco and buy a tv for ourselves. We only use it to watch movies as we don’t have tv but that old set (I think it was Pop’s old one) was getting very dark and hard to see. But we’re technically up to date now with this LCD set. It’s lovely. Randy found a cd of Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta. That one is 30 years old. It was a kick! lol
Anyway, We’re home again, it’s 24 degrees this morning and I have two squares woven for my next sweater project. I thought I’d better make another one while I can still remember the “shoulda dones” from the last one! This is a scarlet boucle`. I also have a smoother yarn in the same color which I’ll use for the knitted parts. But I’m thinking I may weave the sleeves this time, too. We’ll see…
Guess today I’ll clean house and do a bit of holiday decorating.
Hope you are all enjoying your families if you are lucky enough to have them near.

Ready for the xmas sales.

xmascards2 (157k image)

Our assignment for art this week was christmas cards or small matted paintings for the December sale at the galleries. I decided to do cards. I can use them myself if they don’t sell. Evelyn seemed to think that people buy lots of cards there so I may pay for my supplies! πŸ˜› I was running out of inspiration when I remembered my origami santas and found this nice plaid wrapping paper. I think they made up nicely. Just about forgot dinner, tho. Just made a quick trip to the Country Store and got hamburger and Helper. Haven’t had to fall back on that in awhile, but Himself will be home soon and hungry. And… he likes it! :O I think I’ll make some corn bread to go with.
Had a fire all day, shipped looms this morning and worked on my project on the 14″ square loom. The net was down… that’s a pain, but we’re working again.
Hope you’re having a good day! πŸ™‚

Control burning?

cfire (95k image)

SPI is burning logging slash and there’s a low pressure cell here now so all this smoke is staying low and we’re getting to breath it today. Chance of Rain tomorrow is up to 80% so even if it doesn’t douse their fires it should clear the air a bit, I hope.
The small pictures are a second burn on the left and the new view of Billy’s Peak on the right. Compare that to the photo above! πŸ˜₯ Admittedly a lot of us added our bit to the problem this morning when we got up to cold houses and built fires in our heat stoves. Still, Corporate has nearly 30 fires going in this part of Trinity now so I think they’re out-smoking us!
And I saw three Xmas trees going down the road this morning. Please! If you have to kill sweet young firs to decorate your house, at least remember to load them tip to the rear and wrapped tightly in a tarp or some strong plastic. The wind at 60+mph on the trip home will strip the needles off your tree, making it all in vain! I’ve seen this way too often. 😦
Okay, that’s my bitch for today… back to fibering!

Ampleknitters Retreat West

The retreat went well as usual! Denise is a great organizer and we had a fun weekend. Raided all the yarn shops in the area and were met with open arms and lots of complimentary stuff. Most all of us took a part in Middleford yarn shop’s second annual knit fashion show. I modeled a scarf, not a chance to really ‘strut my stuff’ maybe, but then at my age, I really don’t have a lot of ‘stuff’! lol

Home again and it’s coooold! Lots of frost this morning and occasional fog as well. Humm… feels like winter!

A wedding

Wedding (134k image)

Went to my nephews wedding this weekend. Had a nice time visting with family and met some new friends. It was a lovely ceremony and a beautiful day for it. The groom and his mother shed the most tears. They are now well and soundly married. We all wish them and long and healthy marriage.

The Road Home

TheRoadHome (154k image)

This has been and continues to be one of the prettiest Autumns in a long time. the colors are just fantastic! We had enough rain to close down fire season here in far north California, unlike the unfortunate southern CA.
This is Coffee Creek Road, and my car. I was standing in front of my mailbox to take this. There is not a stretch of Road between here and Weaverville that is not photogenic this month. A bit of wind came up this afternoon and my dirt and gravel parking space is carpeted with a colorful tapestry of leaves. Most of which blew in from my cousins yard, but when I suggested he should rake them he started explaining how the convoluted wind patterns were actually blowing mine onto his lawn… which was suspisously green! lol But I think that means he’s not going to rake for me!
I may be hanging my pictures at the Chamber of commerce this next month if I can come up with the required numbers. But this is the scene I painted today, tho I left my car out of it.
I hope you too, are having a lovely fall this week!

TA-DA! An FO!!!

SweaterComplete2 (149k image)

Well, I have finally & at last completed this project! I’ve learned several things, too …believe it or not! lol I am already planning another one, but with a few modifications. I think the main item for a better fit will be longer shoulders in the back. That’ll probably mean either a bit of knitting on the yoke, or more likely just use of one of the smaller looms in that service. I am pleased with it, all in all, tho. I could not find the buttons I won at Ampleknitters last year, which I planned for this sweater so finally opted for no buttons. I can’t remember the last time I actually buttoned a cardigan, anyway. And I’ve seen them fastened with shawl pins or metal clasps so if I find something along those lines that I like and feel the need I may add one of them later.
But… all in all I am happy with it and Very Happy to have it done!

Mz. Ample2007 is also finished!

As is my mid-term painting! One of the options we are given is to “March to your own drummer” which permission I took advantage of this time.
:hehe:

The Sweater Project

Sweater (156k image)

I see it’s been awhile since I posted… again. Time flies whether you’re having fun or not, don’t it tho? Well, I haven’t been NOT having fun, just busy with whatever, I guess. But I have made a bit of progress on the sweater. Cast on the second sleeve this morning. Did the last one in a day, but I don’t think I’ll be doing marathon knitting today. Once the sleeve is done the button bands should go quickly. Only problem being that I haven’t been able to locate my buttons yet. I was wanting to use those that I won at Ampleknitters Retreat last year. But I’m afraid I put them in one of those ‘safe places’. You know… the ones you can never find again. πŸ˜₯
Well, they may show up yet. Meantime, I guess I’d better get up in the shop and make looms. It’s raining this week so a lot of indoor stuff is getting done. Well, maybe not a lot exactly… πŸ˜›
Hope your week is going well.

New Bag

Bigger-loom-bag (154k image)

This is the bag I found for the larger looms. It’s not perfect but works well. This is the 12″ square so you can see that it’s be a bit short for the 14″ but would still work. There’s lot of room for yarn and project and a pocket for accessories. Unfortunately, there is only 3 of them left and it’s first come, first served. I’m calling to see if I can get more or something even better, maybe?!
