Summer morning

Yeah, it’s my breakfast. Our local organic gardener got a new puppy. A 10 month old 95 lb. Pyrenees. Very playfull and untrained when they got him. Bosco rammed playfully into the side of Tami’s knee and so she is now wearing a brace for at least 6 weeks. I’ve been helping out by picking raspberries for her. Which leads back to my breakfast. 🙂  I’m also working on a project with the looms… it’s a secret! This loom is one of Randy’s Art looms. I snagged it before he could sell it to somebody! Walnut and maple with brass pins. Cool.

It’s been pretty warm days here but last night got rather chilly, had to get up and find an afghan to supplement the one blanket we’ve had on the bed. Had some thunder in the distance a couple days ago but no rain and as far as I can gather, no fires.

Randy will be home this evening and once we get the drip system set up for the tomatoes and the loom orders caught up we’re heading for the coast for a couple days with Justin before he has to head home again.  Haven’t been over in awhile and next summer he plans to go to Alaska so we won’t see the ocean then, either.

But I hope you hare having a summer with hot, but not too hot, days and cool nights! And have some raspberries for your Cheerios!

SUNSHINE!!!

I found it! Or rather, my sister did. it’s called iris japonica or japanese iris and seems to be considered a weed by some people. lol I gether from google-ing that is mulitplies rapidly in some areas. this isn’t one, it does multiplyhere, too, but reasonably & I am fine with it as it has a lovely flower, as you can see.

The sun is shining again at last! It is soooo lovely!  lol I am not usually bothered by cloudy and rainy days but it was getting to me this spring. Tho I had to spend some time in the shop today I’ve been out transplanting garden plants and flowers. I found another blossom on the Orchid Iris. I don’t  know the real name of this plant and cannot remember where I got the start but it’s a lovely plant and I hope someone will be able to recognize it for me. They grow about a foot tall and multiply rapidly but only bloom if they like where they are. I have not come up with a no-fail place but sometimes I get lucky and meet their conditions. If you know who this is, Please let me know!

It’s getting warm…

Found a sure sign of spring yesterday. Well, Himself did, actually. He got out the lawn mower. 😦 I like my yard meadow with the wild flowers and bees and butterflies. But he’s taken it over and he likes a lawn. At least he’s not inclined to the chemical approach and he does compromise by mowing around the few he recognizes as flowers. But, all that apart, we did add these to dinner last night!

Happy Easter

Sis bought me an Easter basket for my birthday and it is in full bloom now. The first such thing I’ve had in years. Very pretty!

It’s good to have something cheerful around today as it is dark and cold  and sleeting and snowing… No sunrise this morning!

But I understand that the east is having lovely weather for Easter after their wicked winter! Congratulations to you guys!

The loom maker took yesterday off so we’ll be back in the shop today. It is warmer and drier than outdoors, anyway! lol I understand that the interstate is one again having blizzard conditions. Happy to be home in our warm shop!

Hope you are somewhere warm and dry, but if you share our weather, it is at least a good day for yarn. 🙂

Renters!

The Jays are back rebuilding the nest we had to remove temporarily when we changed the windows last summer. I wasn’t sure if they’d like the changes but they don’t seem to mind. Could not catch them in the act, they are working too hard and too quickly for my camera.

It’s warm again.

Here’s Randy sifting dirt and compost though a screen into the newly moved garden box. The other was moved last fall but I had more plants to find new homes for in this one. You can just see some red sprouts there by the foundation behind the iris. That’s the peonies I moved out of this box last fall. Even the tree peonies appear to have survived their untimely move. That rather surprised me.  Not sure what will go into this box. The other one has budding rhubarb and my stevia plants go there too. I want some leeks and peppers, maybe an eggplant. I’m going to try the hanging tomato planters this time. I’m wondering… if they are hanging from the rafters if it will keep them out of the reach of marauding deer?

Still trying to be spring.

As  you see, the snow is gone again. We’ll probably have more showers but for now its lovely, blue sky, and warm.  Got up to 71 today.  It’s back into the 30’s tonight, tho, so not quite spring yet.

Here’s Randy out fixing the sprinkler he broke last fall by dropping a dead alder right on it! Good shot had he been aiming for it. but he’s good at plumbing, too and it’s all fixed for when that time comes again.

Had to take my car into Weaver to the body shop to get the fender and tail light replaced from when that pine tree backed into me.  We also picked up the nail order and some groceries.

I have a bunch of looms to ship tomorrow but we took the day off. First time we’ve spent a day out of the loom shop in two weeks. We needed that,  I did get a little done on my weaving project this evening but have not been getting much time to use them, too busy making them! 🙂  Hope you are enjoying yours, too.
