It’s Really spring now! Warm, sunny, things starting to grow, birds carrying sticks, my birthday! The gal friends gave me a party, it was great fun to see everyone after being holed up all winter. We were all suffering from ‘cabin fever’.
And little Ellie Petunia’s mom brought me a picture of her sweet self wrapped in the blanket I made for her on the 6 inch Multi loom. It’s some nice Green Mountain Spinnery cotton and Mom says it gets softer all the time. Ellie is 6 months now and sat smiling and talking to us, such a good baby! I was happy to see the blanket in use, of course!

More of the same…Welcome to spring.
Well, I am weaving and making DVD’s and I’m sure I’m expected in the loom shop but the slush is falling out of the trees making it dangerous out there . And my shoes are wet just from stepping out to the wood shed. Not sure I want to venture further! Bah. That one in the center is my still blooming primroses. Poor things.

Those Poor Primorses…
They’re buried again. It’s nearing a foot in the open areas. No plows so far and only one brave parent from up the road trying for the school. School won’t close unless the power fails as most kids are within walking distance. Which it just did but was only off minute. This new battery back-up worked just fine, saving this half done post. Thank you, Bernie!
But Mother Nature is fooling with us, sending us the East Coast’s weather. No, Mom! We don’t want it!
Even Redding at 500′ of elevation is getting to share this one. Hiway 5 north seems to be having their troubles, tho the further you go north the better it looks. this is via the web-cams. I’m staying home!

Added on the 18th. I think it’s over for this time but here’s the primrose, one ore time…

Next Morning…

Next morning all the snow is gone again and it’s raining hard. Forecast is for more snow. Sure is spring! Cori’s abandoned tennis ball is laying out there with the drowning Primroses. She loves snow but opts to stay in if it’s rain. Can’t blame her.

But I am using the time to get some weaving done. My aim is a top for myself using whatever random texture patterns I can find or invent. I have a nice stack of them so far but many more to go. HD told me I have shop work to do today, too.

And I am working on cleaning the crystals on my chandelier before my tea party next week. I had not realized how dusty it had gotten. And I took down the xmas decoration that has been there for several years! lol The party is just to break the doldrums with a few friends. We’re neighbors but rarely see each other this time of year & everyone seemed happy to have an excuse to break their dullness. Including the hosetess!
Well, that’s February for you…

Granmother’s Christmas Cactus which is over 50 years old got eaten off summer ’09 by a deer that wandered into the yard where we thought it was safe. It was down to stubs. It has made a very nice comeback, in fact, it looks better than ever, and Randy discovered this morning that it is even blooming! All the flowers are on the window side so this photo was taken from the deck. This is the first time it’s bloomed since Grandmother died and we inherited it. Cool!
My little one from Momma also has buds and that other pink plant- I can’t remember it’s name- has been blooming for some time. Randy says there is also bud on the potted petunia he brought in last fall. We have quite a bouquet in the window this cold January. It was 19 this morning. brrr!

Welcome to November!
The temperature was 41 this morning, on the warm side, but the mt. tops are white, none the less. The trees that still have leaves are brightly colored and I have this ready to go into the oven. I have never grow Jack Be Little pumpkins before so have not a clue what will become of them I did them like apples, brown sugar spices and some raisins. I thought about adding some ginger cookies crumbs but the local store did not have any ready at hand. Well, x your fingers for them!

I’ve been working on the toddler clothing. I have some nice cotton bamboo blend but it kind of a wimpy color, I’ll need to find something to give it some kick.
I worked in the shop a bit but had to give it up as I kept hitting my thumb with the hammer. So I’ve been doing book work most of the day. Gaaa!
Well, I see Himself is home. Must be Game Time! Go Giants!
A last harvest
Autumn
Randy built a fire in the shop stove this morning. He said it was for me, Ain’t that thoughtful! lol We have not had a frost yet but as you see, the leaves are turning anyway. This is grand father’s Hickory, maybe the only one this side of the Mississippi. It puts on a great show every year. Reminds me of butterscotch. The Woodbine on the porch is bright red and maroon, and tho the maples are starting to turn a little there is not much color elsewhere.

Well, there is this bit, below. A classic fall picture in this area. I guess I need to remove the pumpkins and the flower vase from the top of the wood stove as I am guessing there will be a fire in it this evening. Hope your autumn is cozy! Get your looms out & get a start on winter projects!
Into September…
… and here I am, behind in my posting again. We have been busy getting out orders and now I have lost my loom room where the big rug loom has been living. I think I have found a new home for it but I still have my monstrous yarn stash and assorted other things to find new homes for.
But meantime… the potted garden is doing beautifully. Witness the elegant eggplant! It sets in a tall metal stand at the corner of the deck. The tomatoes are in even larger pots at the foot of the deck. They have more of an insolent sprawl, lounging over into the deck on one side and the deer fence on the other. The pot of green peppers is tidy and green and well behaved, but they are all producing very well. I even have two small pumpkins on vines which are creeping across the lawn. Himself mentioned today that the grass under them needs mowing. Not sure how we’re going to accomplish this with everyone intact.
