Bye Bye!

Well, there goes my big rug loom.

I lost my loom room and could not find a place for the Cambridge so offered it to another weaver. It was taken by a weaver in Montana. Her husband and son arrived yesterday to pick it up and take it to it’s new home. I am sorry to see it go but I know she will make good use of it. Now I have only to sort though my huge stash and get the Baby Wolf warped up and working.

Meantime, I am weaving on the Tumbling Block and the Diamond looms weaving Christmas projects. We’re also working feverishly in the shop to get ready for both OFFF and Lambtown coming up.

I read of fiber shows all over this fall so i know you are all finding lots of inspiration for your looms!

Into September…

… and here I am, behind in my posting again. We have been busy getting out orders and now I have lost my loom room where the big rug loom has been living. I think I have found a new home for it but I still have my monstrous yarn stash and assorted other things to find new homes for.

But meantime… the potted garden is doing beautifully. Witness the elegant eggplant!  It sets in a tall metal stand at the corner of the deck. The tomatoes are in even larger pots at the foot of the deck. They have more of an insolent sprawl, lounging over into the deck on one side and the deer fence on the other. The pot of green peppers is tidy and green and well behaved, but they are all producing very well. I even have two small pumpkins on vines which are creeping across the lawn. Himself mentioned today that the grass under them needs mowing.  Not sure how we’re going to accomplish this with everyone intact.

I hope your September is prospering!

We sent Justin home because he starts school tomorrow.  But it’s kind if lonely around here now, too.  Sis came down today to spend some time this week while Randy is off working on his step mom’s place, so I am not altogether alone.

And it’s a good thing she did come as she was able to discover the problem with my computer so I am once again able to post photo’s here and my stamps program is working again so I don’t have to make the 16 mile trip to the post office every day to ship looms!

And she told me I was making pictures too big for this blog so this time I’m being conservative. Here are Justin and I before we headed to the airport. I don’t need that orange sweater today, for sure, as the temps are back into the 90’s for a couple days before taking a sharp dip back into the 70’s. What a weather year we’re having! lol Hope your summer has been interesting!

Doll clothes

Well, here’s the cargo pants and her new Heart On Her Sleeve sweatshirt. I am still having trouble up loading pictures to the net so a lot of my list stuff is getting posted here. These are  some things for a chaeity, not sure just yet which ones will be included in the end. The cargo pants are a little big so may try that again a tince smaller.

Here’s my version of babydoll PJ’s and a skirt and top with a crocheted hat.

Exploring

Justin eaten by a Megadon.

Hazel & Cori measuring a Redwood tree.

We played in ocean & forest yesterday. Today we head up the coast… I forgot how far… and then tomorrow we’ll head inland. I know I’m going to miss the cool fog once we get back into inland heat!

But I’m making progress on my squares in the evenings. Hope your summer is giving you some good weaving weather.

Tripping

Taking our grandson for a last view of different parts of north California before he has to go home. We are at Klamath today and will visit things marine this morning in Cresent City and then things redwood this afternoon. The temperatre is sweater cool but not coat cold. Nice! We’ll go up the coast into Oregon before turning back inland toward things volcanic- the other parts he wanted to see- where the weather will go back to shorts hot. ;-D

We spent the evening listening to the ballgame after strolling by the river in the dusk, and I wove some more on my project. Hope yours is making progress!

Summer Fun

The first picture is the local swimming hole in the Trinity River and Grandson Justin taking a leap off the rocks. A thing I could never make myself do! It’s a nice deep hole with wide shallows for the little ones and a shady sloping sandy bank for the mom’s and Dad’s in lawn chairs. The water is no longer quite as snowy cold but still fresh and fairly fast flowing. A popular afternoon site.

The second picture is taken in Hell’s Gate on the Rogue River in Oregon. We went on the Jet Boat tour with sister and her dh. I could not get far enough back to get a good picture and it is a goal of the pilots (with encouragement from the tourists) to get us as wet as possible. I did not want to chance soaking the camera. But I have to admit, I also enjoyed the wetting as it was a hot afternoon. I missed one shoulder with the sun block and it is quite bright this morning! lol

But we had an enjoyable visit, got a bit of shopping done, and are now home again.

Another project finished!

I finished my baby blanket, woven on the 6″ Multi square loom. I used Paton’s Cotton top (from stash & discontinued) and Knit Picks Crayon cotton to assemble it. The finished size is 38″ square, which I’m told is a good size for a receiving blanket. I was hoping for crib sized but found I was short on a couple of the colors. This took a bit over a month to make, I did not work on it every day but stuck to my resolve not to start another project until I finished this one. I tried out a few fancy edgings but in the end just worked three rounds of sc and a row of picots. What I did not want was any lacy holes for little fingers and toes to get caught in. I think it’s pretty without them.

I am quite happy with the finished blanket. It’s for a young neighbor having her first child. I ran it though the gentle cycle of the washing machine yesterday, I had to be sure it was machine washable. I have to admit I was a bit nervous about this.  picturing it coming out with gaping holes so that I’d have to rush off to town to buy her a gift before the shower! It came out just fine and tho it did not shrink, it fluffed and is really soft and ‘huggable’. I am delighted and hope she will be as well. (The picture enlarges if you click it.)

Nearly July

July is almost  upon us and summer is just getting started. Well, by the calendar, that’s correct, but it usually starts in fact a few weeks earlier.  It has gotten warm finally.  Well.. hot actually but I’m not tired of it yet! lol  The deck is going up slowly as time allows and we’re getting looms made. Justin, our oldest grandson is here to lend a hand for the summer & we’re enjoying his visit as well.

I was sorting though some stuff and found these. They came with some loom things I was given by a widowed neighbor. His wife had been a weaver and there were some nice shuttles as well as a bobbin winder which I was extremely happy to see.  but I haven’t a clue what these things are. They seem to have been made with standard doctor sized tongue depressors.  If you know, would you tell me please?

Happy Birthday, Hazel Rose!

Hazel Rose is celebrating her first birthday! She and her parents live in Oregon and Hazel came by to visit with us at OFFF last October. We wanted to help celcbrate her 1st birthday so sent along this little doll woven on the looms, of course. She seems to like it so we are happy, too.  Thanks Mom for sharing the pictires!
