Part of what I’ve been doing.

Both (29k image)

My friend makes porcelain dolls and asked me to knit outfits for these two. The first one has a lovely black wig but I didn’t have it for the photo. I also added a red sash and bow at the waist line. I’ll get a finished photo of her, I’m rather proud of this ‘off-the-top-of-my-head dress! πŸ˜€ The sailor suit turned out cute for the second twin, but I’m not sure it’s really ‘her’, if you know what I mean. I might try something else for her, depending on what my friend likes.
Other than that, I’ve been helping my cousin finish up her knitted-felted purses for her up-coming trunk show. They are fabulous bags! I’ve already reserved mine!
We’re having company this year for Thanksgiving. That’s great. The ‘kids’ are in their early 20’s but still young people to liven things up a bit. It’s usually just Randy and I and Grandmother and now we don’t even have grandmother. We might have to try to go somewhere for Christmas, too. Maybe. There’s always weather to figure in. πŸ˜›

Better late than never….

Roses (131k image)

So this is a pic left-over from June? Nope, took it just now. See the oak leaves on the ground? This is the old rose garden, more or less left on it’s own these last few years. I guess it was just waiting for some rain. There are more buds, too, but I have little hope for them. It was 31 degrees this morning and even under the oak trees it’s got to be cold. We’re having a fire every day now and the weather forecasts are starting to mention snow levels. Those are still some way above us, but it won’t be long now. It was comfortable with all that woolly fiber in my lap last evening. What are you weaving? Still hats, here. πŸ˜€

Wow! I’m doing it!

overshot6 (128k image)

I finally got both the loom and the warping figured out and seem to have a handle on the ‘treadling’, too. If it weaves like overshot and it looks like overshot, it must be overshot, huh?! This is so cool! Now I have got to try this on the square loom. I’ve been wanting to find out how this works so I can try it with the small looms. When I get though with this table runner (It was designed by an 11 year old girl!) I’m going to give it a whirl on the square.
But meantime… this is more fun that it looked like it was going to be at the start! X your fingers for me! πŸ˜€

Halloween Day

JackandCoriafterbaths (128k image)

Had a full day. Got an early appointment for Jack and Cori at the doggy beauty parlor so we took off for town. I got mine hair cut while they were getting theirs washed and clipped. Then it was off the vet to get jack shot… his rabies was due, them to the pound for his license… he’s legal now. I got all my stuff done as well. Stopped to fill the gas tank and was able to rescue an elderly gentleman who was momentarily baffled by the new atm pumps. All that was well and good. then when I got home I accidentally locked my purse and the dogs in the car. πŸ˜₯ I couldn’t find Randy’s keys but I did discover that one back window was open about 4″. I was able to hook my purse with my plant hanging pole and fish the spare key out, to the great relief of the dogs! :blush:All’s well that ends well, Yes?
Anyway, we’re pretty and smell good, and that’s what really counts! πŸ™„
Hope your halloween isn’t too spooky!

My FO Vest

FoxVest2 (21k image)

It’s a Finished Object! The Fox Island vest that I started not quite a year ago. Got the buttons on it this morning. I don’t suppose jeans and a sweat shirt are exactly the outfit for a lace vest but I want a picture right now! lol Anyway, here’s proof that I really did get it done!

A Saturday’s job

woodshed (132k image)

Randy got the splitter running last night before dinner and split up this pile. He’s off cutting more for an hour or so and I’m stacking it in the shed, which as you can see is pretty darned empty for the end of October. We’ve been lucky with the weather so far but there are rumors of rain for mid week and this time of year it could turn white :O any day. It’s been 31 degrees for about 4 mornings in a row now.
Take a look at my other blog to see the picture of my latest hat. http://hazelsyarns.blogspot.com/
Oh yes… I also finally finished the Fox Island vest! I’ll post a photo of that here, too. It’s taken not quite a year to knit! πŸ˜›

Happy October Friday the 13th!

pumpkin2a (169k image)

The hay is in Rosy’s barn, the butternut from her garden and the pumpkins from Kermit’s. Rex took the photo. Very seasonal, hummm? I don’t have a pumpkin so I’m making fried apples for dinner. That’s good, too!

We’re back!

moon2 (61k image)

Sis got the technical stuff fixed! I knew she could do it! She’s such a clever lady! πŸ™‚ This photo is for testing. It’s the finally diminishing moon that’s been shining in my bedroom window & keeping me awake for the last month! 😎 Would I lie?! I know it’s been that long! lol But anyway, it’s finally moving on and doing it’s bright thing in the morning hours after I’m up. Well, it’s good to be back. If you want to see what I’ve been weaving on my big loom you can take a look at the temp blog I set up at: http://hazelsyarns.blogspot.com/

Signs of the times

SeptBerries3 (193k image)

It’s the picture I lost yesterday. The Mountain Ash on the left and the Highbush Cranberry on the right. At least that’s what I think it is. If you know for sure and can tell me if they are eatable, I’d sure love to hear form you. I haven’t been able to find any definite information about this large and lovely bush. (dorleska at tds.net) I have a larger version of this on my desktop. They are so bright and pretty. The other plants and trees in the yard and forests are also starting to turn. Lead, of course, by that all time favorite, the Poison Oak. It gets the nicest red. The dogwood is more pinkish and, of course, the maples the brightest sunshiny yellow. It won’t be long before everything is lit up.
I’m hoping the the stove will be lit up, too, but so far the woodshed is empty. :O Himself had better get on that soon! The temps are falling a bit every night now.
Hope you are having a lovely autumn! πŸ˜€

Liz Zimmerman’s Baby sweater

BabySurprizeSweater (122k image)

You may have seen this one. It’s knit all in one piece, and of course, I forgot to take a picture of it before I folded and sewed the shoulders in place. Been wanting to try this one for sometime and little Elizabeth (due next month sometime) gave me an excellent opportunity. I’ve been saving those buttons , too. In case you can’t read them, they say BINGO. Cute, huh? πŸ˜€
I took a bunch of pretty fall pictures today but just as I had the post featuring a good one ready to send, I clicked the wrong button and sent it into Computer Twilight Zone. 😦 Oh well… I’m sure you have plenty of pretty pictures in your own yards these days.

Fiber weather is a comin’!
