Finally got the shorts woven and assembled. I think it’s cute. I still have to find the proper buttons and a zipper for the back of the shorts. Then I have to canvas the neighborhood for a slim figure willing to model it. It looks okay on the plastic lady but I want to see how it fits a real person.
It didn’t take long to weave considering that there are 21 4″ squares in the top and some 32 in the shorts, if I remember correctly. Plus I made the shorts legs and little longer with the 2X4″ loom.
If you have the Multi loom or a weavette or one of the other little looms you can find the pattern for this one on Eloomination.com

Camping

While Randy checked out the nearby trails, I entertained the mosquitoes and wove on my 6″ Multi there by the campfire. The rest of our trip is in the next two posts. More pretty pictures! π
At Crater Lake, Oregon

I know you’ve probably seen this picture a billion times, even if you’ve never been there but it is so lovely, it’s worth another look. Randy and I spent a couple days taking pictures and driving around the rim. We stayed in the campground there with a passel of other people… a popular place. π Then we moved on, toured Diamond lake and ended in a nearly deserted campground out in the middle of Oregon, somewhere, I think near the headwaters of the Umpqua River. it was a really enjoyable and relaxing trip. The only drawback was that now that the snow is melting, Oregon’s Deluxe sized mosquitoes were out in full force. I kept a hot campfire going and that kept most of them at bay. A bit of breeze came up now and then and that also helped. But… we were really glad we invested in that trailer!
Home again now and back to work in the loom shop!
Shasta

Mt. Shasta from the east… Wait! Is that steam?! No, guess not, it’s just a little cloud. Whew! Just a little volcanic fun. π I got this great shot at a view point on the way up HWY 97 heading for Crater Lake.

Dirty Pictures

The reception last night was fun and, I think, successful. Quite a lot of people came and there were good comments and lots of interest in my locally collected and hand-made pigments. I had three oils but the rest of my paintings were painted with Trinity County dirt. The painting above sold along with some small prints. The show will hang for a month so who knows what may happen in that time. But I enjoyed my first gallery experience, in any case. My previous sales were though a local restaurant. Sold many there but the ambiance is totally different! π
Now, back to my weaving… π
My project
I think this 1940’s swim suit is a cute playsuit and decided to try it *without* making any changes! π But I really don’t think the way the shorts are made that they are going to fit very well so I might, after all, have to make a few small “adjustments”. π Anyway, it’s woven on the 4″ Multi Loom using A textured yarn from my stash: Bernat Calico. 13% acrylic 9% polyester, 64% cotton, & 19% nylon. It wove up nicely and not sheer, which I thought important for that design. I will need to find a warm model when it’s finished. My last young lady graduated from high school and went away to collage but surely someone around here must have a granddaughter eager to earn a little cash for looking pretty! π If I find one you will see her here.
Opening June 6!

My Show!

We hung the show today! Margaret brought her paintings in at noon but Marie and I spent most of the day arranging and hanging. The official Opening is Saturday evening at the Art Cruise. I’m excited Got a nice write up in the paper, too, as you see above. π I sure hope I don’t break my arm with all this self back patting! π …. but I do think it looks rather nice! In fact, I have already had an inquiry from a Gentleman who was hanging his own show next door! Very flattering.
The 3 paintings on the right are mine. Marie is hanging two of Margaret’s.
Fleur

Good thing I brought these in yesterday, The thunder storms we had today and this evening have the rest of them with their pretty pink faces in the mud. :O The hail didn’t do them any good, either. On the other hand all the rain probably saved us from a lot of lightening fires. I’m told Southern Trinity reported 85 or so from yesterday’s storms. I hope some of this rain got down to them.
It’s still sprinkling out there but I haven’t head any rumbling for awhile. It’s gotten cold, tho. From days in the lower 90’s we’re now 52! Chilly!
But Thank you, Mother Nature… we needed the rain. π
