Happy Birthday, Hazel Rose!

Hazel Rose is celebrating her first birthday! She and her parents live in Oregon and Hazel came by to visit with us at OFFF last October. We wanted to help celcbrate her 1st birthday so sent along this little doll woven on the looms, of course. She seems to like it so we are happy, too.  Thanks Mom for sharing the pictires!

Handwoven’s Not Just Socks contest loser.

This is the sock yarn project that was a finalist but did not win. It is one of the dresses I wove for the Hand-Woven magazine sock yarn contest. It is Tofutsies sock yarn and the trim is crocheted with Wildfoote. I knitted a ribbing on the sleeves.
This dress was woven on the 2”, 4”, & the 6” Multi square looms, weaving diagonal. I did two others from a different brand of yarn.

The good news is that  one of the winners did win using our Hazel Rose Looms. For me that is almost as good as winning myself! Congratulations Zann!

Be sure to keep a look out for the magazine in your bookstore. Not sure when the winners will be published but it should not be long!

My Girls again

It’s snowing again, the shop was not warm yet and I have this skein of wool/cotton yarn in ‘natural’  that needed knitting. It seemed perfect for a small Aran sweater so…

Cables

The skirt is handspun, might be mine ior it might be Rosy’s. The socks are the same yarn as the sweater in a faux cable, easy to knit.

And to save some wear and tear on Samantha’s bountiful hair the sweater buttons up the back. I hope to get a pattern written up.

A new family member

Since the last time I posted a photo of my girls a new member has joined my little family. We are now complete and will not be adopting  more (no matter what dh hints at! lol). In case you did not guess… it’s Molly! (2nd from left) We all got dressed up for the occasion. Aren’t we pretty?!  🙂

A KAL

I’ve been invited to lead a knit-along  for a group who want to knit an evening gown from a free pattern on Ravelry. You may have guess already that the gown is to fit the American Girls, not us knitters. I had decided yesterday that I was not going to start any more doll clothes but was going to finish my cardigan and measure the warp for my curtain project. But…what the heck, doll clothes are small  so it shouldn’t take more than week to finish, and that’s working at it evenings so I ought to have plenty of time for the other projects, too.

Anyway, I did cast on and knit the ruffle so’s to have something to show as leader. 😉

A start....

Trying a new idea

I wanted to see if I could work a pattern in the three main forms of yarn needle craft for doll clothes. No sewing here but I made this leotard in weaving – Lexi, knitting- Addy, and crochet-Kirsten.   Check the patterns link to the right.

I knitted the first one as that seemed to me to be the easiest to get the shape I wanted as  the bottom part is pretty much based on the Fancy Pantie  pattern. That turned out well.  I can crochet but an not a Crocheter, if you get what I mean. This one has some…er…unusual stitches. I do not know how to crochet short rows properly

Ready for dance class

so the butt of her leo has a strange looking “eye” pattern but worked out pretty good all in all, I think. The woven one went a lot easier than I had been fearing and is made with two QW squares and a Tiny Weaver tri & square. It took the least amount of yarn to make, of course. I may remove the shoulder ribbons and put buttons on it, too. Now… I hope I can write up decent patterns from my copious notes… pages of which are scratched out as I changed horses midstream! lol

An alternate view

I’ve been asked about cotton for the doll pantie pattern so I tried it with some Paton’s Glace.  It works up a tince large so I added a row of eyelets under the ribbing and threaded a bit of ribbon just to keep them safe! 🙂 Click on the link to the right to see all the patterns, knit and weave. Not all are for dolls, believe it or not!
