We’re not getting a lot of smoke from this fire but it’s pretty awful in the valley. Poppa says it isn’t bad out in Happy Valley, he has a little elevation out there, about 1000′ I think. The mountains pretty well keep it away from us, but those people must really be suffering. Even if they aren’t among the 80 family’s who have lost their homes in this 8,000+ acre fire started by a guy’s lawnmower with, apparently, a bad spark arrester.

Here’s what I have today. I am weaving Tiny squares for the border and holding my breath that I have enough of this yarn. I bought it on ebay and L.B. apparently has no more so…. 😥 I think there’ll be enough.
I think this is turning out rather pretty and certainly going faster than most of my projects do. It’s ‘sposed to be another hot one today so between laundry and bookwork, I should get more Tiny’s woven.

The flagman jumped oput of sight just as I snapped this. Looking for some shade probably. 😛 It was 104 at this spot. But it got to 112 by the time I got to the garage where I was ‘sposed to pick up Randy. The mechanic had fixed his truck by the time I got there, tho, so I could have stayed in the mountains where it was a cool(er) 95 and finished my weaving! 🙄

Two more tris to go. I should have that done by tommrow and be starting on the border. Was thinking green tiny squares, which would make the border about 3″ wide. Now I wonder if I shouldn’t do something white in between… any suggestions? I can crochet, too.

Got this photo from the 4-H group who raise llama and used handspun llama and the 12″ square looms to make this afghan to raise money for a charity project of theirs! I think the kids did a Wonderful job with this and have something they can be proud of. The afghan will be visiting fairs and fiber shows this summer while they sell tickets with this blanket as the grand prize. Good work, kids! 🙂

Karen made this little purse for a young relative who is having her 8th birthday. How could any little girl fail to love it!

It’s growing! The star is as big as it’s getting. Now I have to fill in the spaces! lol Watch this space for further developments… 😀

Robert, grandson of an old friend, was one year old today and Grandmother will be 100 years old on the 26th so we thought they should have their picture taken together in their party hats! We had lots of cake and icecream and plenty of presents. Robert fed his cake to the dog with his spoon. Luckily his Gramma didn’t catch that!

Karen went home an got some LB Homespun and some chenille and went to weaving! She has one afghan finished and another almost finished and is working on a purse. She wove the purse squares with two strands on LB Homespun on every other nail. It came out bulky and plush. I think she’s doing a great job. I love the mixture of square sizes and the way the colors are arranged, too.

My husband couldn’t resist when offered this treasure and the neighbors daughter thought it was wonderful and wanted to put right where her Dad could see it so here it is… in my front yard. It can stay as long as Dad is here but when the family reunion breaks up it’s going back behind the garage or for sale on ebay! There is no phone in it and I don’t have a “game room” to decorate anyway! 😀
